Carles Cuadrat: It’s going to be really tough for us against Hyderabad FC

The Bengaluru FC head coach also revealed that he is yet to find the right combination for his team.

Ahead of Bengaluru FC's next league game against Hyderabad FC, head coach Carles Cuadrat and defender Rahul Bheke interacted with the media in the pre-match press conference.

The Blues seem to be cruising with confidence after establishing clear dominance in the south, as they beat both Chennaiyin FC and Kerala Blasters. Thoughts On Hyderabad FC

“They need points, so it’s going to be really tough for us. The way they lost their previous game, they would look to bounce back from the disappointment and prove themselves, when they face us next. They were on the brink of getting one point and lost it in the final moments of the game. It’s a big disappointment and this would fuel them to perform better against us.”

Carles Cuadrat also shed some light on the development of football in India and said that it happens over time. He emphasized that efforts have to be made from various sources, after implementing ideas and views from everyone concerned.

“One very important thing is that of refereeing errors that we see in almost every game. I believe the game against Kerala Blasters was a wonderful game of football. It was very passionate and filled with supporters from both sides. The game rightfully should have ended 2-1, That’s what I would like to see as a supporter," the Spaniard added.

On Previous Game

Carles Cuadrat also had a few more words on the game against Kerala Blasters. “Everybody can express their opinion. But, I come from a sports culture where when we lose a game, we make sure to congratulate the opponent on the victory and keep the views restricted to our own team and not the opposition team. I believe the coaches must abide by the tactical analysis of the game and then express their views.”

“In the previous game, (Bartholomew) Ogbeche had no clear chance. Gurpreet (Singh Sandhu) never went to ground on any occasion and wasn’t troubled throughout the game. We also saw (Sunil) Chhetri unmarked in the build-up to the goal he scored. All of this has been a result of the work we put in training and it deserves credit.”

Carles Cuadrat also stressed on the fact that there were “two teams on the pitch” in contradiction to Kerala Blasters head coach Eelco Schattorie’s post match analysis, where he claimed that the Blasters were the only team that performed well.

The Spaniard was questioned if the team is over-dependent on Chhetri's goal-scoring contributions.

“He (Sunil Chhetri) is one of the best strikers in the country and this is what is expected of him. His contributions to the team are vital and he is just doing his job, creating chances and scoring, irrespective of the position he’s playing. We also have different players contributing with goals.”

The 51-year-old had a few words for Ashique Kuriniyan, who has been putting in double shifts, working in two different positions in every game. “Ashique is a talent. He understands what is expected off him and delivers whenever required. I prefer to use him in different positions and he performs well in both. He still has a lot of game in him and will perform well over time.”

On Right Combination

Speaking on whether he has found the right combination after five games in the league Cuadrat said, “I have 25 players to choose from, I try to field the most competitive team for every game. I have been missing a few players and will know the right combination when I have all 25 players to choose from,” he concluded.
