The Mumbai City FC boss also spoke highly of midfielder Sourav Das.

Mumbai City FC side picked up their fifth win of ISL 2019-20 campaign by beating reigning champions Bengaluru FC in Mumbai on Friday night. The victory means that the Islanders have now won home and away against the Blues, and head coach Jorge Costa was thrilled with the result at hand.

“The two goals that we scored today were fortunate, but we played a very good game of football. Although the goals came out of situations that don’t normally come up in football, we had a lot of chances to score more, and I only remember one chance that Bengaluru had to score. We worked and we pressed, from the first second to the last, I could be wrong, but I think we deserved to win this game, maybe one more goal or less, but we deserved to win more than Bengaluru,” Jorge Costa began.

"Sourav started the season well, but then picked up that injury and was out for one month. He was working everyday and played one game against Hyderabad, and when you work hard everyday, you get to play. I played with Sourav and Borges, but it’s true that Borges was in much more different positions than when I play with Borges and Machado or Borges and Raynier, because Machado and Raynier are very attacking,” the Mumbai City head coach added.

Jorge Costa talked about the Islanders' performance against Bengaluru FC on Saturday night with enthusiasm. "We started defending well and we had an almost perfect game at the back, not for the ninety minutes, but just the manner in which we should defend." [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] "Yes, we made two or three mistakes, but that’s a part of football. When we don’t concede goals, it’s much close to winning, it was just one game, but I hope we can repeat this till the end of the season. We don’t give up, we have the points there, and we will fight for the maximum points that we can win, and at the end we will see what will happen,” the Portuguese tactician added. Modou Sougou was in the scoresheet against Bengaluru FC on Saturday night. While the forward missed some games in the beginning and had to adapt to a wider role, Jorge Costa had kind words to describe his performance.

"This is something that he (Modou Sougou) does naturally because last season he was playing as a number nine, but this season he’s playing as a number eleven. He’s a player that special qualities, and we want to get the maximum out of him. I cannot tell him everything obviously, but it’s good,” he said.

When quizzed about it, Jorge Costa revealed, “This is what we have. I don’t want to be here after every game to say the same things. For sure the referee made bad decisions, but we deserved to win." "We played better, we had more chances, but yes, I understand, sometimes even I haven’t been happy. When you are not happy, you can see a lot of things. I like to look at the things that I can control, my players - I can control,” he added.

“All the things that are in the game and you don’t have the power to control, it’s better to forget. I lost a very bad game against Odisha, and after the game I was looking at the things I can improve. I cannot help the referees, because when you have money, it’s important to have quality. It’s not just me, or Carles or Lobera. We don’t have the power to change things,” Jorge Costa concluded.
