NEUFC had suffered a major blow with the departure of talismanic striker Bartholomew Ogbeche, who had emerged as the club's leading goalscorer last season, guiding thenm to the playoffs for the first time in their history. What's more, they also lost out on head coach Eelco Schattorie, with both player and coach moving to league rivals Kerala Blasters.
However, after having made a slew of impressive signings in the last few weeks, the Highlanders have now added real pedigree and goalscoring prowess with the acquisition of the Ghanian. Needless to say, Gyan will lead the line for the Guwahati-based club in the upcoming campaign and will be expected to provide the same kind of leadership by performance, as was done by the Dutchman he's replacing.
