The Les Bleus talisman won the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Europa League recently.
Ten-time Ballon d’Or winners Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi along with Antoine Griezmann are all in contention to win the individual award, but Atletico Madrid‘s gaffer Diego Simeone is of the opinion that French man Griezmann deserves to win it.
Lionel Messi, with Barcelona, won the LaLiga and Copa Del Ray double in 2018. While Ronaldo took Real Madrid towards their third Champions League trophy in a row. Shockingly, he jumped ships in July after completing his transfer to Juventus for a reported £105m.
Ronaldo and Messi have shared ten Ballon d’Ors among them, since 2007 when AC Milan’s Kaka won it.
Griezmann’s club coach Diego Simeone, under whom Griezmann developed drastically said, “We can safely say that Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Lionel Messi are the best footballers in the world. But not in this 2018.”
“At this lap Antoine was superior to everyone, nobody did what he did for his teams. When a footballer makes sure that the whole team can work based on his brain, it has an incalculable value.”

Griezmann began the year with rumours of him leaving the Los Rojiblancos. However, despite interests from Manchester United and Barcelona, he decided to stay on.
Atletico won the Europa League and France won the FIFA World Cup 2018 with Antoine Griezmann. While Simeone insists that Didier Deschamps’ side owe the triumph to him.
“France plays thanks to his intelligence, when he is well physically and mentally, there is no player in the world who know how to see and play football like he does,” he added.
“And even looking beyond the titles he won this season, the World Cup, the Europa League and the European Super Cup, there was no soccer player who was more important to the team than Griezmann.”
Griezmann, since the super cup against Real Madrid, has paired well with Diego Costa as they sit at a firm position in LaLiga this season.
