The Argentine tactician hinted that he has found some interest in the Premier League.

Since his sacking from the managerial seat at Real Madrid in March 2019, Santiago Solari opened up about his tenure at Real Madrid and his ambitions from a managerial perspective.

Having taken over the post from Julen Lopetegui in October 2018, Solari had a sublime start to his tenure with the club as his side won four matches on a trot. However, a rough patch followed them soon afterwards as the ouster from the UEFA Champions League and successive defeats in the El Classico in a quick succession meant that he was dismissed from the job only to be replaced by Zinedine Zidane.

Though the club hasn’t endured the perfect revival ever since the arrival of the Frenchman, Solari still refused to comment on whether the decision to move over him was harsh. He said, “That is a private matter. That's football. It was an honour to serve Real Madrid.”

However, the 42-year-old believes that he is ready for another European challenge soon now. Solari remarked, “I would like to coach in Europe, in a serious project in one of the big leagues. I saw the Premier League last year and how it grew so much. It was a fantastic campaign for the English teams. There are so many different cultures as well - you have Spanish coaches, German coaches, English coaches, coaches from all over the world who have made it grow.”

Away from the limelight, the Argentine seems to have done his homework with regards to aspiring to take over the reins at a club. The Premier League seems to have found interest in the man, who also spoke about how he would try to gauge his brand of football in the Premiership.

“The type of football I like is when the team is the protagonist, offensive football, high tempo and aggressive but in order to achieve that you have to defend high, have fast transitions, and of course talent is a big part of that."

“The statistics in the Premier League are amazing and confirm things are changing. Fifteen years ago there were just three games where one team averaged 70% of possession. Three years ago that went up to 30 games. Two years ago it was 60 games and last year there were 67 games in which one team had 70% of possession.”

Currently though, none of the top clubs in the league might possibly look for a change of managers anytime soon. It would be interesting to see how Solari progresses in his managerial career hereon. He was in-charge of the Castilla, before joining the senior team where he delivered mixed results before his defenestration. Would he go back to any of the mid-table clubs to build his mettle? Or, has he set his sight at a top post somewhere else? Only time will tell.
