Langsning signs off the first leg of the Gionee Shillong Premier League with a win as Victor Shadap’s headed goal in the hour mark proved to be enough against Rangdajied. ..
Both Langsning and Rangdajied have been consistently inconsistent in the first half of the season and both the teams came into the match knowing that a convincing win that would set the benchmark for the second half of the season.Langsning keeper exerted his dominance in the box as he came out and collected many balls and also saved a penalty from Nadong Bhutia .
It was Rangdajied who dominated the early exchanges and skipper Bansharai Sun had the chance to give them the lead but he couldn’t connect well to the cross from the right flank. Bisharlang Kharumnuid too had a decent chance to give his team the lead through a header but his connection was not sold enough and the chance vaporised.
Langsning had their chances too; Ronnie Nongbri, who scored two absolute beauties from outside the box in his last match with Lajong lined up a shot from distance that bounced off the gloves of Shambhu Mistry, the Rangdajied goalkeeper and Bickyson had the chance to score into an open net but missed terribly as he ballooned it over the crossbar. The two teams went into half time with both the teams unable to carve open the opponent’s defence.

Rangdajied came out in the second half with the same gusto they showed in the first half and Shanmetre Thma won them a penalty when he was taken down inside the box in the 55th minute. Nadong Bhutia, the former ISL player stepped up to take the spot kick but the Langsning keeper guessed his shot well and went the right way saving Nadong’s low shot very well. This proved to be a turning point in the match as Langsning who had looked the weaker team all of a sudden looked different.
They became more incisive with their passing and their dominance in midfield was pivotal. Victor Shadap gave Langsning the lead in the hour mark with his flicked headed effort towards goal that took a kind deflection off a Rangdajied defender and slotted home beyond the reach of Shambhu Mistry. It wasn’t the most convincing of goals and the Rangdajied defence should have dealt with the ball better but their complacency proved to be costly as Langsning won with that score line.
