Malki register a comfortable 3-0 win against Nongkrem as they overpowered the newcomers scoring three goals and keeping a clean sheet. Bantei Shylla scored a double as Timmy Ryngkhlem also got on the scoresheet. .

Nongkrem and Malki both at the back of heavy defeats in their last outings started the game looking to atone for their losses in their last matches. It was a tight affair with some solid defensive display by both the teams in the first stages of the game. Malki SC started the game better as they threatened Nongkrem early and were denied the lead in the 10th minute by Nongkrem goalkeeper who made a brilliant save with his feet. Nongkrem threatened on the counter attack but the Malki’s goalkeeper Aibormiki Suchiang thwarted many chances as he put in a strong performance. Malki then scored their first goal 6 minutes before the break and you could say it was coming. The wingers came up with some decent exchange of crosses from the left and the right flank leaving the Nongkrem defence bewildered and Bantei Shylla had a simple tap into an open net as the goalkeeper was rooted to his spot. Malki then got their second in additional time when Timmy Ryngkhlem intercepted a weak back pass by Nongkrem defenders and slotted home from close range keeping his cool. That was the last mentionable action of the first half and Malki went into the break with a decent 2 goal advantage.

Nongkrem came out into the second half stronger as they tried to find a way back into the game. Asito Krose nearly came to scoring for them in the 57 minute but his deflected free kick was pushed over the bar by the Malki goalkeeper. Youngster Robert Khongjoh aslo missed an absolute sitter in the 62nd minute as Nongkrem kept wasting their chances. Defender Affored Nongrum’s got near to halving the score but his long range effort in the 82nd minute cannoned off the crossbar. At the other end, Malki got a chance to add a third in the 84th minute but Banshan Nongdhar’s shot from some 30 yards into an open net went inches over the crossbar.

With 4 minutes left and injury time to be added on, Nongkrem looked for what would stir a miraculous comeback and Ricky Nongsiej beat the offside trap and would have gone one on one with the goalkeeper but thinking he was offside, he glanced over at the linesman and mistimed the ball as the Malki defenders cleared. Malki then got a free kick on the right wing one minute into injury time and Banshan Nongdhar sent in a delicious free kick that was converted easily by Bantei for his second goal of the game. The game ended 3-0 with Malki registering their second win of the season while Nongkrem still looks for their first points or rather, their first goal in the Gionee Shillong Premier League.
