The Kolkata side ended pre-season with a win…
Atletico de Kolkata have started their season on home soil in style by beating Dipendu Biswas XI 4-0 in a practice match at Central Park Ground on Sunday afternoon. ATK’s marquee player Helder Postiga opened the scoring for the home team in the first half with a blinder of a shot into the net to put the Red and White army ahead in the first half and the scoreline remained 1-0 in favour of ATK at the end of the first-half. Later in the second half three more goals were added by Jose Molina’s men as Juan Belencoso, Iain Hume and Bikramjit Singh scored for ATK. After the match Atletico de Kolkata officials stated to the media that they won’t play any more practice matches as all of their matches in the Indian Super League will be played under floodlights. They are not getting any ground with floodlight facility, as the Mohun Bagan Ground is already booked by the Kerela Blasters side for their practice under the lights before they fly away to Guwahati for their opening game against NorthEast United FC. They will continue their training at the Central Park and will start their campaign on 2nd October against Chennaiyin FC without any training session under lights. After the convincing win coach Jose Molina said, “I am quite happy with the players’ performance today, especially those who did not take part in the pre-season training in Madrid.” He added,” Arnab played with Tiri in ISL Season 2, so I think they will combine well.”Report by Khel Now Correspondent Rony.
