We need to decide with a cold mind- Unai Emery on Alexandre Lacazette substitution

The French striker has been involved in 13 goals in 20 Premier League games so far.

In the London derby on the New Years' day, Arsenal ran past Fulham quite heroically winning it with a three-goal margin. Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were on the scoresheet as Aboubakar Kamara pulled just one for the night for Fulham.

Unai Emery was pleased with the performance of his team but faced boos on the particular moment of the substitution of Alexandre Lacazette. The French striker had doubled the lead in the 55th minute for the Gunners before being down to injury in the last quarter of the game, being substituted out for Aaron Ramsey. The Gunners manager insisted that he always make decisions with a calm mentality after facing criticism. He urged that he wanted more balance drifting at the end of the game.

“I understand the supporters,” Emery said. “I need to do my work. Tactically we thought in that moment we needed to change for more balance."

He told the Telegraph, "Above all we knew that [Jean Michael] Seri was coming on and we needed a player close to him, not to let him play easily with the ball. Ramsey can do that and also help us in attack, and he scored."

“In my career I have different moments when I made similar decisions. We need to decide with a cold mind what is the best decision," he added.
