The Frenchman has sparkled since the departure of the former FC Porto gaffer.

Manchester United‘s star midfielder Paul Pogba and ex-manager Jose Mourinho were clearly having an uncomfortable relationship during Jose’s reign at United. The Portuguese manager was blamed several times for handing defensive duties to the Frenchman thus reducing his impact on the game. It is believed that Jose’s bad relationship with Pogba was one of the main reason behind him getting sacked.

Speaking ahead of France’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Moldova on Friday, The Frenchman said that the “wrong results” were the main reason behind Jose’s sacking.

“What were the issues? We were not winning, that’s why they decided to change the head coach.”

“The results matter the most. If we were winning, we would have good results and the coach would have remained at his position. That’s all.” said Pogba.

After a wonderful World Cup campaign, the Les Bleus bumped into a stern failure as they failed to qualify for the UEFA Nations League. The Frenchman said that the players lacked the motivation for the Nations League after winning such a coveted trophy and believed that it will not happen in Euro 2020.

“After the World Cup, we didn’t qualify for the Nation League Cup… that’s what it’s called? There are several factors including tiredness and mental fatigue, it’s stressful. We just ended a huge competition.”

“The players were tired after a long season. It’s a part of it. It will not prevent us to play the qualifiers and to go through [to Euro 2020].” he added.

The star midfielder has sprung back into form after the appointment of United’s interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having scored 8 goals under the new boss. The Frenchman will have to undergo some tough fixtures after the international break which includes Champions League Quarterfinal tie against mighty Barcelona.
