Mesut Ozil: Arsenal manager breaks silence on midfielder's omission
The highest-paid player at the club has not been included in the playing squad for the last five gameweeks.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery, has come out and spoken about the ongoing absence of Mesut Ozil from the squad. He has pointed out how the decision to drop him from the side was not just his, but a collective one between the hierarchy of the club.
Ozil is the highest-paid player at Arsenal and the inability to even find a place on the bench has sent shock waves among the fans, who are worried about their team’s lack of creativity in the final third, something the German playmaker can solve.
The 47-year-old Unai Emery was quoted as saying, “Here, we have one agreed strategy as a club and as a team. Because the most important thing is the club, the team and finding a performance. Previously, we were all speaking between us to take that decision (to drop Ozil).
[KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS]As mentioned above, the 31-year-old German has garnered strong support from fans, who are now being very vocal about their demand to see Ozil back in the mix. The former Real Madrid player has featured 233 times for the Gunners, registering 43 goals and 73 assists in the process.
“I know all the supporters want to know something, but now is not the moment. I think it is not the moment to speak about him,” Emery said on the growing demand by the fans to see Ozil playing again.
"We are going to play on Sunday and in the next matches and we are going to decide. When we can speak about him something differently we will look," the tactician added.

However, it seems the best position for the Uruguayan is to play in a holding midfield role, while Dani Ceballos or Mesut Ozil could be employed just behind the attackers as a pivot.
Arsenal play their next fixture in the Premier League on Sunday against Crystal Palace at the Emirates, in a bid to close the gap between them and the top-four placed teams. Will Unai Emery choose the out-of-favour midfielder for the game or will the snub continue? Clearly, Ozil’s status at the club makes no difference to the tactician’s plans.
