Frank Lampard 'in talks' to become next Chelsea manager, reveals Didier Drogba
The Blues are currently without a tactician following the departure of Maurizio Sarri to Juventus.
Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba has revealed through his Instagram live video that Frank Lampard is very much in the running to become the next Chelsea manager.
Derby County, however, have insisted that there has been no approach from the Blues for their current tactician. The all-time leading goalscorer for Chelsea is likely to return to Stamford Bridge, this time as a manager to replace Maurizio Sarri.
Infact, Drogba was seen with his former teammate in London earlier this month, as the Ivorian confirmed to his audience that talks are very much underway between both parties.
When people asked Drogba about the next Chelsea manager in his Instagram live video he said, "The one who is in talks now to get the job - Frank Lampard."
In the meantime, former Derby captain and now club ambassador, Michael Johnson has asked the Blues management to be respectful in their pursuit of the current Derby manager.
He said, "There has been no direct contact made by Chelsea, but you can't get away from the noises and it's probably going to be more 'when' than 'if.'
"From our side, from Derby's side, we want that little bit of respect from Chelsea's regard. If you're going to make the approach, just make the approach; be open and transparent about it."
All the reports about Lampard replacing Sarri have risen only after the former Napoli tactician decided to return to Italy to join Juventus. Also, Lampard has that connection with the club and with the fans and his current stint with Derby also speaks volumes about his managerial skills.
He almost inspired the Rams to return to the Premier League, before they lost to Aston Villa in the Championship playoff final, narrowly missing out on promotion.
However, if the deal materializes then Lampard will have big boots to fill at Stamford Bridge. The former England international has to find a way to fill the void left by Eden Hazard, who left for Real Madrid earlier this month.

"No-one can replace Hazard, he is special," Drogba said during an Instagram live video on his account on Saturday. "But, someone else will come, (and) step up. Eden Hazard is a legend at Chelsea. That's life, that's football.
