OFFICIAL: Juventus confirm the transfer of Matthijs de Ligt
The former Godenzonen defender becomes the third most expensive teenager of all time.
Juventus have confirmed the signing of Matthijs de Ligt for a fee of €75m, making him the third most expensive teenager of all time just behind Joao Felix and Kylian Mbappe. The Dutch defender had offers from major European clubs but chose to come to Old Lady.
Before signing, De Ligt had stated that the two Juve centre-backs were two examples to him and that he looks upto them.
"I am inspired by Chiellini and Bonucci, two examples for any defender," De Ligt said.
"Going to Juve? It could happen, but there are other clubs too: Raiola will decide my future. I hope Ronaldo plays, as it’ll be fascinating to take him on. I study Baresi and Maldini videos."
He has signed a 5-year deal which will run on until June 30, 2024. The club has boosted its defence and with age on De Ligt's side, it will be only interesting to see how the teenager pans out to be in Serie A.
