In the U-17 Junior Boys matches, the Defence Services College from Colombo was the favorite whipping boy of every team in pool C as State Sports Academy boys from Dimapur (Nagaland) humbled the visitors 8-1 at NWC grounds. The only consolation for them was that they were able to reduce the margin with a goal from Chethiya in the 23rd minute after the Nagaland boys were leading 4-0.
Nagaland defeated Sri Lanka 8-1 in Subroto Cup 2016.
In other morning matches in the same pool, Mamta Modern School, Vikas Puri (Delhi), defeated Gujarat’s Navrachna International School 10-0 with Himanshu (3) and Abhishek (2) being major contributors, while Army Boys Coy, Bangalore, downed St Javier Higher Secondary School from Chhattisgarh 6-1—Dip Majumdar scored four with a hat-trick. Anand Kumar’s footwork saw Chhattisgarh open cursory account.

In comparison, at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School from Chandigarh beat Govt. Sr. Sec. School from Lakshadweep 4-1, Elias Higher Sec. School from Meghalaya beat Maharana Pratap Sports College (Uttarakhand) 2-0 and Krida Prabodhini from Pune outwitted IPSC 5-3 in pool A matches. Though the Modern School boys lost 3-5, they bravely fought until the decisive goals were struck by V. Shelke in the 53rd and 70th minute. In Pool D, The Air Force School drew 1-1 with Arunachal Pradesh even as the Haryana boys gave a 7-0 thrashing to the Daman school team in Pool B. Utkarsh Baisala was the star for the winners again with three strikes.
