Bengaluru FC striker Sunil Chhetri has become the leading Indian goalscorer in the history of league football in India. The landmark covers both the erstwhile National Football League and the current I-League.
Chhetri scored his 90th top flight goal against Aizawl FC earlier today, overtaking the record previous set by another great Indian striker of the modern era, Bhaichung Bhutia who had set the mark with 89 goals.

The talismanic India skipper is already the leading goalscorer for his country and also holds the record for the most caps, with 51 and 91 respectively. He's also the first and so far only Indian to have scored over 50 goals for the national team.
Sunil Chhetri's record-breaking goal against Aizawl FC
The forward's lack of goals this season has been widely commented on, but he's carrying a struggling Blues outfit on his shoulders at the moment, having scored four goals in nine games.
