Biggest Managerial Payouts: In the world of modern football, the boards of football clubs have become ever more trigger happy when it comes to the men and women who are the faces of their clubs, the managers. A change of head coach or the manager is often a quick fix for results on the pitch. However, things may not always be as simple as they seem. Managers are often tied down to clubs on long contracts and are entitled to enormous pay-outs if said contracts are terminated. 5. Luiz Felipe Scolari (Chelsea) - £13,600,000

Luiz Scolari left his post as the head coach of the Portuguese National team, to join Chelsea in 2008. The Brazilian coach famously cited financial reasons for his move to the blue side of London, such was the size of the contract that he was handed on joining the club. However, the World Cup winner’s stint at Chelsea was shortlived as he was given the sack just seven months later after a poor run of form forced the hand of the Chelsea board. Scolari was replaced by Guus Hiddink for the remainder of the season and walked away from the club with no silverware. However, he did manage to pocket a cool £13.6m for his troubles. 4. Laurent Blanc (Paris Saint Germain) - £17,000,000

The former World Cup winning captain oversaw the Paris club during the influx of funds from the Middle East. Along with this also came the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Beckham. The Frenchman enjoyed a very successful period between 2013-2016 at the French capital, winning three league titles in the process. However, Blanc failed time and time again to bring the Champions League to Paris. Blanc was replaced by Unai Emery in 2016 and was given a massive £17m for the termination of his contract. 3. Jose Mourinho (Chelsea) - £18,000,000

The Special One made his return to Stamford Bridge in 2013 following stints at Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Mourinho won the league during the 2014-15 season, with the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian spearheading his side. However, in typical Mourinho fashion, the third season in charge brought disaster. Controversies on the field and off it followed the Portuguese manager who saw his side languishing in the bottom half of the table. 2. Jose Mourinho (Manchester United) - £19,600,000

Soon after Louis Van Gaal was relieved of his duties at Manchester United, news broke that he was to be replaced by his protegee, Jose Mourinho, seemingly the one man who could restore United to their former glory. Mourinho joined the Red Devils, bringing with him signings of the calibre that the fans of the club expected. The likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Mourinho won the Europa League in his first season and finished second in the following season in the Premier League. However, the Portuguese was not given the backing he requested prior to the start of the 2018-2019 season. This lack of cohesion between the manager and the board off the pitch, bled onto the pitch and Mourinho was out of a job before Christmas. 1. Antonio Conte (Chelsea) - £26,285,000

The Italian manager was brought into Stamford Bridge following the departure of Jose Mourinho. Conte had previously managed the likes of Juventus and the Italian National team, meaning his CV made him a safe choice for the Chelsea board. Conte won the Premier League in his first season and the FA Cup in his second. However, the trigger happy Abramovic decided that it was time for a change after the 2017-2018 season. The Italian was given the sack and replaced with his compatriot, Maurizio Sarri. Conte took home a massive £26.2m pounds and is now back in Italy, challenging for the title with Inter Milan.
