The Reds won their last encounter in the Champions League group stage last season by a goal to nil.

The Champions League is back and one of the highlighting fixtures of the first gameweek is Napoli vs Liverpool. The two sides have been drawn in the same group for the second season running and considering the form of both the teams, the game is going to be a cherry to watch.

Talking ahead of the game on Tuesday, Naples star player Lorenzo Insigne insisted that they are all in to reach the final and win the title after the arrival of quality players in the summer.

“I hope to reach the Champions League Final and win it. I’m striving for a great performance against Liverpool,” Insigne told Il Mattino.

“Beyond my goal, the important thing is to win.”

Over the summer, the Italian was rumoured for a move away from Napoli, on which he said, “What matters is that I’m calm. I’ve always wanted to stay and I’ve never thought about leaving Naples. I didn’t choose Raiola for a move away. I’ll always give my best for this shirt.”

“The right signings have been made, we’re a great bunch and we deserve to win something. We have to go as far as possible in the Champions League. I hope to reach the Final and win it.”

The astonishing free-kick Insigne scored in 2013

Rolling back the years, the forward was asked about his best Champions League goal. He said, “My first in the Champions League – a free-kick against Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund at the San Paolo.”
