We had full control of the game - Albert Roca
The Spaniard was pleased after his team's clinical display on opening day...
Albert Roca the Spanish coach of Bengaluru FC was a bundle of joy as he watched his team record a stunning 3-0 win over Thangboi Singto's Shillong Lajong FC at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.
"I think we had control of the game over 90 minutes and they hardly had any chances, maybe the one at the end," said the gaffer in the post match press conference.
"Shillong is not a bad team, but today we really pressured them from the beginning and it was quite satisfying," he continued.
The Steelmen also handed debuts to 3 of their new signings in Sena Ralte, Lenny Rodrigues and Harmanjot Khabra. While Lenny and Khabra had put in a memorable first shift for the Blues, Ralte announced himself to the club with a sublime goal to kill the tie in the 79th minute.
"I am happy for Ralte, but also for the other new players. They have fit in very well here at Bengaluru. It's the first game, but it is important to start well. We have to still improve in attack and defence," opined the Spaniard.
The former Barcelona assistant coach hailed the talent of his captain Sunil Chhetri who has been used as a left sided forward during his stint with the club.
"I think Sunil is a super player and he can play in any position, as a striker or behind. We are very lucky to have him and we must make use of this talent. Also we have other players for his position like Mandar. I think Sunil had a good game in that position today," observed Roca.
