The team's events on the World Tour have always been pulsating and tough.

The individual tournaments on the BWF World Tour are undoubtedly a bliss to watch. Players from several countries showcase their talents in various world tour events and take away the title. However, it becomes even more amazing when these players represent their countries in team events. Sudirman Cup, Badminton Asia Team Championships and Thomas and Uber Cup to name a few.

Talking about the Uber Cup, it has always been considered as a World Team Championship for women. It takes us back to 1957 when the very first edition of this tournament was held. In the beginning, the event was held once every three years before it was merged with the Thomas Cup (Men’s event) in 1984 for similar venues, changing it to once in two years.

Let’s have a look at the top five countries to win the Uber Cup.

5. South Korea

South Korea won the Uber Cup in 2010 which was held in Malaysia. The team finally managed to win the title after five appearances in the finals. They were up against China, who hadn’t dropped a game in their quarterfinals and semi-finals. However, the defending champions were taken by surprise by their opponents as they could only manage to win one game and lost the match by 1-3.

Since then, South Korea haven't managed to lift the Uber Cup despite reaching the finals on two more occasions, 2012 and 2016 respectively.

4. The United States of America

The United States of America won the inaugural edition of the Uber Cup in 1957. The team lifted the trophy on three consecutive editions in 1957, 1960, and 1963. In addition to this, they were also the runner-ups in 1966 when they lost to Japan in the final.

USA beat Denmark in the first two finals followed by England in their third final.

3. Indonesia

When it comes to winning medals at team events, the Indonesian team is always at its best. The women’s team of Indonesia won their first-ever Uber Cup in 1975 by defeating the then defending champions Japan in the final. The team also avenged their defeat in two consecutive finals from their opponents.

Their following two title wins came in 1994 and 1996 when they defeated China who entered as the defending champion in their former appearance. Apart from being winners at the Uber Cup, the team represented their country in seven finals as well.

2. Japan

Japan has always been among the top favourites to win the Uber Cup since the very beginning. The team has surely been successful in achieving that too. Japan have won the Uber Cup a total of six times and have been the runner-up thrice.

The team from the Land of The Rising Sun reached their first final in 1966 and won the title by beating the then defending champions, the USA. They have won the title in two consecutive editions in 1969 and 1972.

After losing out to Indonesia in 1975, the team again found themselves in the finals in the next two editions where they faced the same opponents. This time it was the Japanese team that emerged victoriously.

Japan’s last Uber Cup victory came after a long hiatus in 2018 when they beat Thailand in three straight matches.

1. China

Many countries have undoubtedly produced legendary players in certain disciplines. But when it comes to all-rounded performance, hardly any team other than China has been able to achieve that.

The country has been dominant in almost every team event on the world tour. Hence, it shouldn’t be a surprise if we find them on the top of the list. With a record of 15 titles in 18 appearances, the Chinese team has been the most dominant one in the Uber Cup. The team are also the reigning champions.

Since their very first appearance in 1984, only once have they failed to make it to the finals. Unsurprisingly, the team also holds the record of winning the most number of consecutive titles i.e. six in a row.
