These players scored a lot of goals for their team with the aim to win the tournament.

The FIH Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2022 recently took place in Potchefstroom, South Africa. It saw some of the best women’s junior hockey teams across the globe taking part in the tournament. The Netherlands were huge favourites to lift the title and it did so with scary ease by defeating Germany in the final. On the other hand, the third-place tie saw England beat India for the final spot on the podium.

It was a great window into the upcoming talent in the world of women’s hockey. While strong nations like the Netherlands, Germany and England had incredible talent representing them, Indian youngsters were also very promising. The FIH Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup saw 202 goals overall and the forward players showed sensational hunger for it.

Two players scored in double digits from the same nation, which is a remarkable feat. Keeping the focus on the goalscorers from the FIH Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2022, here are the top three:

3. Mumtaz Khan (India) - 8 goals

India as a hockey nation is making a lot of progress in recent times. The youngsters are impressing on all fronts, whether it is the junior level or the senior level. Women’s hockey in particular is on the rise, especially after the record-breaking fourth place achievement at the Tokyo Olympics. During the FIH Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup, Mumtaz Khan of India scored eight goals.

She was the third-highest goalscorer in the tournament. Her goals were crucial in helping the Indian team finish fourth after reaching the semi-finals. She scored a brace in the third-place playoff too but it was not enough to secure the bronze medal.

2. Luna Fokke (Netherlands) - 11 goals

The Netherlands were the strongest contender to win the title and it did so thanks to players like Luna Fokke. She managed to get 11 goals in the tournament, becoming the second-highest scorer behind her own teammate.

Fokke scored two hat-tricks from the three group stage fixtures. Her deadly instincts in front of the goal made her a really tough player to contain for the opposition. She is a player to watch out for at the senior level as well.

1. Jip Dicke (Netherlands) - 13 goals

Jip Dicke was the top goalscorer at the FIH Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2022. She scored an incredible 13 goals for the Netherlands, thus playing a key role in helping the country become champions. She scored four goals in an 11-0 win against Canada and five goals in an 18-0 win against Zimbabwe in the Pool fixtures.

The competition for being the top scorer was intense between Luna Fokke and Jip Dicke. Both players scored in the double digits and their healthy competition eventually became bad news for the opposition. Dicke and Fokke were on the scoresheet against India in the semi-final too. Their partnership was lethal, to say the least, and the teamwork of the Dutch squad was one of their strong points at the tournament.
