The Indian Eves will look to win the title for the first time.
India are raring to have a crack at the Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup 2022 title. The tournament is being held in Potchefstroom, South Africa from the 1st to 12th April. India have never won this tournament in the past and will be looking to change their record this time around.
The Indian women's hockey team's best performance was in 2013 in Monchengladbach where they won a bronze medal. Experienced midfielder Salima Tete will lead the Indian women's hockey team and Ishika Chaudhury will serve as the vice-captain. Olympians returned Lalremsiami and Sharmila Devi will also provide strength and big match experience to the squad.
Fifteen teams will participate in the tournament as Ukraine had to withdraw amidst the war crisis with Russia. India are in Group D along with Germany, Malaysia and Wales. The top two teams will qualify for the quarter-finals. So, India has a very good chance of making it through to the next stage though they have to be careful of Germany.
