Tayyab Ikram appointed as new FIH President

The newly-elected president is currently the CEO of the Asian Hockey Federation.

Tayyab Ikram from Pakistan is appointed the new president of the International Hockey Federation (HIL) succeeding India’s Narinder Batra as its full-time chief. Ikram is currently the CEO of the Asian Hockey Federation as well.

The new President defeated Marc Coudeon of Belgium 79-47 in the 48th FIH Congress and will be in charge for two years filling in the time frame left by Narinder Batra who resigned on July 18, 2022. Narendra Batra was appointed the president of HIL way back in 2016 and had a tenure of six years as the President.

Before the appointment of Tayyab Ikram, Seif Ahmed from Egypt was the acting President and was elected unanimously. Seif is the president of the African Hockey Federation and also one of the members of the FIH Executive Board (EB).

The FIH Executive Board consists of a president, eight ordinary members - four female and four male - one half being renewed every two years; an athletes’ representative, Presidents of the Continental Federations, the CEO any (non-voting) member co-opted onto the Executive Board pursuant to Article 7.1 (c) of the FIH Statutes.
