Pakistan had seven athletes in their Paris Olympics 2024 contingent.

The Paris Olympics 2024 drew to an end on August 11 (Sunday) after two glorious weeks. One of the nations which left a major impact in the games is Pakistan. Although there were only seven athletes from the country, it returned home with an Olympic record and a gold medal.

In athletics, the nation had two representatives comprising Arshad Nadeem in men’s javelin throw and Faiqa Riaz in women’s 100m. Nadeem won the only medal for Pakistan at Paris Olympics 2024, a gold that too with an Olympic record. It is the nation’s first individual Olympic gold.

He alongside women’s swimmer Jehanara Nabi were the flag-bearers in the opening ceremony at Paris. The Pakistan contingent has announced a single flag-bearer for the closing ceremony at Stade de France on August 11.

Who is the flag-bearer for Pakistan in Paris Olympics 2024 closing ceremony?

The Pakistan contingent will be led by Faiqa Riaz at the Paris Olympics 2024 closing ceremony. Riaz was awarded a universality place in the women’s 100m at Paris. She ran a personal best of 12.49 secs to finish sixth in heat 2 of the preliminary round. She could not advance to the first round.

She finished 24th overall and needed to finish under 12 seconds to qualify for the next round. Riaz had her Olympic debut at Paris and can now hope to qualify again for the LA 2028 Olympics in the sprinting events.

The 24-year-old will be the only one leading her contingent during the closing ceremony at Paris. At the Tokyo Olympics 2020, it was Nadeem who led his nation during the closing ceremony. This time it will again be a track and field athlete holding the flag during the parade. Like Nadeem, Riaz is also an employee of Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority.

She will be looking up to Nadeem and achieve international recognition like the javelin thrower. Riaz now will be returning home with a career best timing in women’s 100m and as the flag-bearer of the closing ceremony for Pakistan.
