Paris Olympics 2024: India’s medal tally after Day 6, 1 August
India added one more bronze to its tally on Day 6 of Paris Olympics.
Day 6 of the Paris Olympics 2024 brought mixed results for India, with both triumphs and setbacks across various sports. The nation celebrated its third medal of these Games as Swapnil Kusale secured a bronze in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event. In badminton, rising star Lakshya Sen advanced to the quarter-finals with a convincing win over compatriot HS Prannoy.
However, India faced disappointments in other events. The men’s hockey team suffered their first loss in the tournament against defending champions Belgium. In boxing, world champion Nikhat Zareen’s Olympic journey came to an end in the round of 16. The archery and shooting competitions also saw early exits for Indian athletes.
Number of medals Indian athletes contested on August 1
On August 1, Indian athletes contested for only one medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, which they successfully won. Swapnil Kusale secured a bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event, marking India’s first medal of these Games.
Kusale’s achievement in this complex shooting discipline, which involves firing from three different positions – standing, kneeling, and prone – brings pride to India.
