Jannik Sinner became the first Italian to become the ATP World No. 1 earlier this week.

2024 Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner is set to play doubles alongside Lorenzo Musetti at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

As revealed by the Italian tennis federation on Friday, Sinner would also be playing in the singles event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Jannik Sinner has been enjoying a breakthrough campaign in 2024. He won the Australian Open by breaking Novak Djokovic‘s 33-match unbeaten streak at the Rod Laver Arena.

Sinner also won the Miami Open and ATP Rotterdam before losing in the semi-finals at the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters. He also suffered a hip injury during the Madrid Open, which ruled him out of the tournament. However, he returned at the French Open last month and reached the semi-finals at the second Grand Slam of the year.

In addition, he also became the first Italian player to become ATP World No. 1 earlier this week. Jannik Sinner’s win/loss record in 2024 is 33/3 and he has won three titles. Meanwhile, Lorenzo Musetti is currently ranked 30 and is yet to win a title in 2024.

Musetti also has a concerning win/loss record of 11/15 this year. However, the two young tennis stars can surprise the tennis world with their performances at the Paris Olympics.

Sinner has started his preparations for the grass season, as the Italian tennis star will be competing at the Halle Open, which is scheduled from June 17 to 23. The World No. 1 was forced to retire during his quarter-final fixture against eventual champion Alexander Bublik at the 2023 Halle Open.

However, he’d be looking forward to winning a grass court title before entering the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. Meanwhile, Jasmine Paolini will team up with Sara Errani on the women’s doubles front for Italy.

A couple of days ago, it was also announced by the Spanish tennis federation that Carlos Alcaraz will be accompanied by Rafael Nadal in the men’s doubles event at the 2024 Olympics. Thus, the men’s doubles event is going to be interesting in Paris.
