The athletes from Japan and China have been thoroughly impressive.

Monday saw plenty of notable performances at the Paris Olympics 2024. Athletes from Asia continued to hold their lead at France. India also added another medal to their tally on 30 July 2024 with Manu Bhaker/ Sarabjot Singh securing bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event.

Apart from the dominance of the Asian nations, Summer McIntosh of Canada entertained the crowd with a gold medal-winning performance in the women’s 400m Individual Medley final from the swimming discipline at Paris Olympics 2024.

She outshined United States of America’s Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant who had to settle for a silver and a bronze medal respectively. The USA’s disappointing start to the Paris Olympics 2024 saw their athletes miss out on another gold.

Japan sits on top of the medal tally with seven golds, two silvers and four bronze medals. They won gold in the Men’s Team Final from the Artistic Gymnastics discipline ahead of China and the United States of America. Takanori Nagase clinched the gold in the men’s 81kg Judo event.

China is in second place with six golds, six silvers and two bronze medals. In Table tennis mixed doubles, the pair of Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha won the gold. Qi Ying secured the silver in men’s trap shooting event. Xu Jiayu and Tang Qianting chipped in with silver medals each in men’s 100m backstroke and women’s 100m breaststroke respectively.

Australia is now on third place of the medal tally with six golds and four silver medals. The brilliant performance in swimming continued as they secured gold and silver in the women’s 200m Freestyle. Mollie O’Callaghan and Ariarne Titmus took the first and second place on the podium respectively. Kaylee McKeown successfully defended her gold medal and set an Olympic record in 100m backstroke.

Hosts France are in fourth position in the medal tally with five golds, eight silvers and four bronze medals. Manon Apithy-Brunet won gold in the Fencing discipline by beating compatriot Sara Balzer in the Women’s Sabre Individual in the final with courtesy of a 15-12 scoreline. Clarisse Agbegnenou won the bronze medal in women’s 63kg division.

South Korea exited the top three of the medal tally and is now ranked fifth with five golds, three silvers and three bronze medals. Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin won the bronze medal in mixed doubles table tennis. Lee Joonhwan also was placed third on the podium in men’s 81 kg Judo.

The United States of America is steadily winning medals as well. The nation predicted to secure the most medals at the Paris Olympics 2024 has so far secured 25 total medals which consisted of four golds, ten silvers and 11 bronze medals. The gold medal was secured in gymanstics women’s team event. Nick Itkin won the bronze medal in men’s individual foil under fencing.

The swimming discipline also saw South Africa win its first gold medal of the Paris Olympics 2024 following Tatjana Smith winning the Women’s 100m Breastroke final. Meanwhile, Hong Kong won its second gold in Fencing as Cheung Ka Long took the gold in the men’s Foil Individual bout beating Italy’s Filippo Macchi.
