Paris Olympics 2024: Updated medal tally after 7th August 2024, Day 12
The race for the top spot in the medal table is heating up.
The Paris Olympics 2024 in France are heading towards an exciting end. As the prestigious quadrennial event progresses further, plenty of events across various disciplines are reaching their end. On August 7, plenty of gold medals were up for grabs and the spectators saw fierce competition from the athletes vying for the top prize.
The day began by USA’s Cole Hacker making a suprise entry and winning the gold in men’s 1500m. Fellow American Yared Nuguse took the bronze medal. The very next event saw Bahrain winning its first medal of Paris Olympics 2024, a gold through Winfred Yavi in women’s 3000m steeplechase.
USA again had multiple medallists in the podium as Gabby Thomas took gold in women’s 200m while Brittany Brown finished third. Sarah Hildebrandt won gold in women’s 50kg freestyle wrestling. Her event was involved in a controversy as Vinesh Phogat was supposed to be her opponent in the final, but the Indian was disqualified after being 100 grams overweight.
It was not a day to cherish for India as Mirabai Chanu finished fourth in women’s weightlifting 49kg division. She missed the bronze medal by 1kg. It was redemption for USA athletes as they collected medals and pushed their nation to the top of the medal tally again.

Updated medal tally after 7th August in Paris Olympics 2024
Table toppers of Paris Olympics 2024, United States of America (USA) leads the medal table with 27 gold medals, 35 silver and 32 bronze. The women’s team pursuit won gold under cycling and few hours later Quincy Hall finished first in men’s 400m. The USA team also won silver in team acrobatic routine under artistic swimming.
The Chinese contingent trails the USA in the medal tally, they have collected 25 gold medals, 23 silver and 17 bronze medals. Li Fabin won gold in men’s 61kg category in weightlifting. Over to Artistic Swimming, China secured the gold in team acrobatic routine. However, a disappointing outcome in the boxing discipline saw Kellie Harrington of Ireland defeating China’s Wenlu Yang in the final of the women’s 60kg final.
The third place was occupied by the Australian contingent that had gathered 18 gold medals, 12 silver and 11 bronze medals. Matt Wearn won gold in men’s dinghy medal race from the sailing discipline. Keegan Palmer also delivered a gold for Australia in skate boarding men’s Park final event. Nina Kennedy soared to gold in women’s pole vault. The Australian men’s team won gold in team pursuit under cycling.
Hosts France could not win any gold medals on August 7 at Paris Olympics 2024. They have won 13 gold medals, 17 silver and 21 bronze. Cyrian Ravet won bronze in men’s 58kg division under Taekwondo. Sofiane Oumiha received the silver medal in men’s 63.5 boxing event.
Coming in fifth place is Great Britain which saw a dip in their medal colllection. They have now 12 gold medals, 17 silver and 20 bronze. Josh Kerr was expected to win gold but ended with silver in men’s 1500m event. Lewis Richardson won silver in men’s 71kg boxing. The men’s team pursuit received silver while the women’s team won bronze under cycling.
In sixth place of the medal tally of Paris Olympics 2024 is South Korea with 12 gold medals, 8 silver and 7 bronze. It could only win one medal a gold on Wednesday. Park Taejoon won gold in men’s 58kg division under Taekwondo.
