Paris Olympics 2024: Who are USA's flag bearers at the summer games

Team USA will be sending in 592 athletes at the Paris Olympics 2024.

The Paris Olympics 2024 will see the USA contingent looking to top the medal table. There are multiple world champions and Olympic champions from the USA. They will look to continue their dominance at the summer games.

At the Tokyo Olympics, USA had 613 athletes representing the nation. This time they will be sending 592 athletes to Paris. Among the sporting disciplines, track and field will have the majority of athletes with 120 of them.

There will only be one athlete in rhythmic gymnastics and modern pentathlon. In terms of overall numbers, there are 278 women athletes which is 53 percent of the USA contingent for Paris Olympics 2024.

The flag bearers for USA at Paris Olympics 2024

Team USA has announced the flag bearers for Paris Olympics 2024. Basketball icon LeBron James has been confirmed as the male flag bearer for Paris. He will be joined by Coco Gauff as female flag bearer as it has become an Olympic tradition.

At the Tokyo games, the flag bearers for the USA were women’s basketball legend, Sue Bird and baseball player Eddy Alvarez. It will be the second consecutive year for a basketball player to be the part of the flag bearers for team USA at the summer games.

Lebron James will be competing at the Olympics for the fourth time and for the first time since the 2012 London Olympics. He made his debut at the 2004 Athens Olympics and won the bronze medal. James won gold medals at Beijing and London.

James has completed two decades in the NBA and will now hope to regain his Olympic glory. The 39-year-old is the first male basketball player to be the USA team flag bearer at Olympics. The flag bearer of team USA is based on votes from other American Olympic athletes.

Stephen Curry nominated James on behalf of the men’s basketball team. James will be hoping to lead the team to a historic 17th gold medal at the Olympics. 

They have been on top of the podium in the past four editions of the summer games. They have also won two bronze medals and one silver medal at the Olympics.
