India ended with 29 medals, including seven gold.

On the final day of the Paris Paralympics 2024, India’s Pooja Ojha finished fourth in the semifinals of her event and failed to qualify for the final. Earlier on Saturday, India clinched two more medals, bringing their total tally to an impressive 29.

Navdeep secured a gold medal in the men’s javelin F41 category after initially winning silver. His personal best throw of 47.32m was upgraded when the Iranian athlete was disqualified for misconduct.

In another triumph, Simran Sharma bagged a bronze in the women’s 200m T12 race, adding to India’s medal count. These victories capped off a record-breaking performance by India’s para-athletes.

India was in the mix in just one event today, but unfortunately didn’t reach medal round. Pooja Ojha, the lone Indian contestant in action, missed out on reaching the medal round in the women’s kayak single 200m KL1 sprint canoeing event.

At the Vaires-sur-Marne Stadium, Ojha finished her semi-final with a time of 1:17.03, placing her fourth. Unfortunately, this was 7.03 seconds behind Italy’s Eleonora de Paolis, who secured the crucial third spot. Only the top three finishers advanced to the final.

Canada’s Brianna Hennessy and China’s Maosan claimed the top two spots in the semifinal. Ojha had earlier finished fifth in the heats.

This result marks the end of India’s para-canoeing campaign at the Paralympics. On Saturday, Prachi Yadav finished eighth in the women’s VL2 200m, while Yash Kumar, India’s only male canoe sprinter, placed fifth in the KL1 200m semifinal.
