Paris Paralympics 2024: Who are India's medal contenders today September 6 (Day 9)?
India will compete in at least five medal events on Friday.
India had a rather disappointing Day 8 at Paris Paralympics 2024 with only one medal won on Friday. Kapil Parmar clinched the bronze medal in men’s -60kg J1 beating Brazil’s Elielton de Oliveira by an Ippon. Having dominated the quarterfinals )10-0) against Marcus Dennis Blanco, he got it back against his Iranian opponent.
India missed out on a couple of medals with fourth-place finishes. The archery recurve mixed doubles pair of Harvinder Singh and Pooja lost to Slovenia in a shoot-off in the bronze medal playoff. Simran Sharma had a shocker of a finals to finish fourth in the 100m T12.
India would like to see some names in medal lists on Friday. Here are the athletes who will be trying hard to achieve it on Day 9 (September 6) of Paris Paralympics 2024.
India’s medal contenders on Day 9 of Paris Paralympics 2024
Kasthuri Rajamani – Para Powerlifting – Women’s 67kg – 8:30 PM

But for Kasthuri Rajamani it is an opportunity to achieve her dream of representing the nation at the Paralympics. Until 2018, she was working to meet the expense of her family and knew nothing about Paralympics.
It was her friend, a para-shooter, who introduced her to para-sports. Now, the Tamil Nadu girl will aim to raise the tricolor high. She won the inaugural Khelo Para Games and went on to win bronze in the World Cup in April. A podium finish would be nothing short of inspirational.
Dipesh Kumar – Para Athletics – Men’s Javelin Throw F54 – 2.07 PM
India will look to add another medal in the men’s javelin throw courtesy Dipesh Kumar in the F54 category. The 19-year-old shot to fame in the inaugural Khelo Para Games when he clinched gold medal. Dipesh would want to repeat the feat in Paris to increase India’s tally.

Soman Rana & Hokato Hotozhe Sema – Para Athletics – Men’s Shot Put F57 – 10:34 PM
Coming from the Scenic city of Shillong, Soman Rama has been on the rising trend in the last years. At the Tokyo Paralympics, he missed out on a podium finish after ending fourth. With a silver medal in the Asian Para Games, the Halvadar in the Indian Army would want to make it count in Paris.
