China is edging closer to the triple digit mark in the medal tally at Paris Paralympics 2024.

The Paris Paralympics 2024 has seen over 70 nations winning medals in various events. Two nations have crossed the 50-medal mark, with China is nearing half a century of gold medals at Paris. The USA has been covering a lot of lost ground but still has a long way to go. With five more days to go, the race for a podium finish in the medal tally looks promising for few.

Day 5 of Paris Paralympics 2024 began with Jetze Plat of Netherlands winning the gold medal in men’s PWC triathlon as fellow countrymen, Geert Schipper secured bronze while Florian Brungraber of Austria clinched silver.

Meanwhile India had its best day yet at Paris Paralympics 2024 as the nation collected eight medals. Nitesh Kumar won the gold medal in men’s singles SL 3 under Badminton as Sumit Antil successfully defended his men’s javelin F64 title. India is in 15th place in the medal tally on day 5 of Paris Paralympics 2024 with three golds, five silvers and seven bronze.

China has extended its lead on the top of the medal tally at Paris Paralympics 2024. The Asian powerhouse has won 43 gold, 30 silver and 14 bronze medals. Xiao Zuxian won gold in para-badminton women’s singles SL3. The pair of Li Fengmei and Lin Naili secured the win in mixed doubles SH 6. Cheng Hefang added yet another gold in women’s singles SL4.

Great Britain has maintained consistency throughout the games with 29 gold, 15 silver and 10 bronze. Dave Ellis won the first gold of the day for the nation in the men’s PTVI triathlon. Megan Richter also won gold in the women’s PTS4 triathlon. Over to swimming, Ellie Challis swam to gold in women’s S3 50m backstroke as Louise Fiddes followed pursuit in women’s SB14 100m breastsroke event.

Coming in third place in the medal tally of Paris Paralympics 2024 is USA with 13 gold, 19 silver and 10 bronze. Hailey Danz took the top spot in women’s PTS2 triathlon as compatriot Allysa Seely came in third place. The 38-year-old Chris Hammer struck gold in the men’s PTS5 triathlon. Yan Xia Gong was right on target to be placed second in mixed 25m pistol SH1 shooting event.

Brazil is still in fourth place as their para-athletes have continued to shine on the field. The South American nation has so far won 12 gold, 8 silver and 18 bronze medals. Claudiney Batista finished first in men’s F56 discus throw as Elizabeth Rodrigues came in second in women’s F54 shot put. Other than athletics, Maria Carolina gained ultimate glory in women’s S13 50m freestyle under swimming. Ronan Cordeiro clinched silver in men’s PTS5 triathlon.

Hosts France have held the fifth position with 11 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze. Jules Ribstein set the tone with gold in the men’s PTS2 triathlon. Alexis Hanquinquant won gold in the men’s PTS4 triathlon. Aurelie Aubert won gold in women’s individual BC1 gold medal under Boccia. Charles Noakes won the 11th gold for France in men’s singles SH6 Badminton.
