China continues to dominate medal tally.

As the Paris Paralympics 2024 draws to a close, over 80 nations have secured podium finishes at the 17th edition of the games. The leading three countries in the medal tally have established a substantial lead over the rest. With just one day remaining, the final standings are almost set.

India has made history with its best-ever Paralympic performance, winning seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze medals.

On Saturday, Simran Sharma won bronze in the women’s 200m T12 event with a personal best time of 24.75 seconds. Navdeep Singh, who initially won silver in the men’s javelin F41 final with a personal best throw of 47.32m, was awarded gold after the original winner was disqualified

Earlier on Friday, India’s remarkable achievements included surpassing its Tokyo gold medal tally. Praveen Kumar secured the country’s sixth gold in men’s high jump T64 with a jump of 2.08m, marking his second consecutive medal after winning silver in Tokyo. Hokato Hotozhe added a bronze in the men’s shot put F57 event.

China stands out as the dominant force, leading the medal tally with an impressive 216 medals. This includes 94 golds, 73 silver, and 49 bronze. Great Britain follows in second place with a strong performance, having won 47 golds, 42 silvers, and 31 bronzes for a total of 120 medals. The United States is in third, with 36 golds and 41 silvers, contributing to their 102 medals overall.

The Neutral Paralympic Athletes have made a notable impact with 71 medals, including 26 golds. The Netherlands holds the fifth spot with 55 medals, while Italy is sixth with 70, buoyed by 24 golds. Brazil, Ukraine, and France complete the top ten.

India, currently ranked 16th, has achieved its best-ever Paralympic performance with a total of 29 medals. This includes 7 golds, 9 silvers, and 13 bronzes. The Indian team surpassed their previous records and making a mark in various events.
