Sudhanshu Mittal: Thanks to Modi Ji for the rise of Kho Kho

Recently, Sarika Kale was honoured with Arjuna Award by the central government.
Kho Kho a traditional and age-old Indian game is gaining popularity among the youths of the country and the Narendra Modi led central government had honoured one of the experienced players in Sagrika Kale with Arjuna Award earlier this year. Kho- Kho President of India Shri Sudhanshu Mittal expressed his happiness on the rise and popularity of the game. Mittal also thanked the Prime Minister for rewarding Kho-Kho players with government jobs.
“I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju ji for helping in promoting kho kho. Earlier, for government jobs (in sports quota) kho kho was not considered but now kho kho players who did great can also get a job under that scheme. And the credit to this goes to the central government,” he quoted as reported by IANS
According to him, this move will open possibilities for young people to pursue kho kho as a profession without worrying from the financial point of view. “The sportspersons who play kho kho are now feeling secure (career-wise) and I am sure such motivational steps will promote the sport in India,” he explained.
Not only did Kho Kho gain popularity In India but also foreign countries have opened their arms and have embraced the game. Speaking on the topic KKFI chief remarked, “Foreign countries liked our sport because there is endurance, agility and strength in it. People will surely like it.”
The KKFI decided to hold the first-ever Kho Kho League in November, however, due to rising cases of Covid-19 the tournament is postponed on a later date.
“Our Kho Kho league was scheduled to start from November 21 but because of Covid-19, it got postponed. We will announce the fresh dates soon,” he signed off
