The Indian swimmers and sailors will also kick-off their campaign at the Games.
Tokyo Olympics Day 3 will witnessed several high-profile Indian athletes in action. However, it was Mirabai Chanu who stole the show for India. She won a silver medal in the women’s 49kg category. Therefore, she became the second-ever Indian weightlifter after Karnam Malleswari to win an Olympic medal.
On Sunday, several Indian medal hopefuls will begin their Tokyo 2020 journey. Mary Kom, Manu Bhaker, P.V. Sindhu, Manish Kaushik and many others will be in action in the weekend.
Shooting: Women’s 10m Air Pistol (Medal event)
The Indian shooters will once again be the first ones in action. Shooting is India’s biggest medal hope. The nation has achieved at least a medal in the sport in three of the last four Olympics. However, women’s rifle shooters Elavenil Valarivan and Apurvi Chandela crashed out of the tournament on Saturday.
It’s time for the women’s pistol shooters to try and bring glory to the nation on Sunday. One of India’s brightest medal prospects Manu Bhaker and Yashaswini Singh Deswal will be aiming to clinch India’s first shooting medals in Tokyo. The event will begin at 5:30 AM IST in Sunday morning.

Badminton: Women’s singles (PV Sindhu Vs Psenia Polikarpova)
Rio 2016 silver medalist PV Sindhu will begin her Tokyo 2020 campaign against Israel's Ksenia Polikarpova. Sindhu is ranked World No. 7, whereas Polikarpova is placed 61st in the world rankings.
On paper, it looks like an easy victory for the Indian shuttler but nothing should be taken for granted at the Olympics. B. Sai Praneeth had lost against lower-ranked Israeli opposition in Misha Zilberman in his opening match. Hence, Sindhu should be careful of any slip-ups. The match will begin at 7:10 AM IST.
