Top five goalscorers at the men's FIH Hockey 5s 2022
India went on to win the inaugural edition of the tournament.
A new action-packed version of field hockey, known as the Hockey 5s took place recently in Switzerland. The Indian men’s hockey team managed to win the inaugural edition of Hockey 5s Lausanne after a sensational performance. In the final, Men in Blue took the field against Poland and became victorious after a brilliant 6-4 comeback win.
The Indian team took away a lot of positives from the Hockey 5s tournament which is fast and full of goals. Due to the smaller playing area and different rules than regular field hockey, there were more attacking moves. Fans saw aggressive hockey where the forwards were not shy of taking shots on the target from a distance and narrow angles.
Expectedly, there were a lot of goals at the tournament. In total, it saw 85 total goals in the tournament. In terms of the leading goalscoring team, India’s tally of 25 goals was the highest.
