SFA Championships 2024: Aditya Kapasi, Ananya Shelke dominate gymnastic events

Aditya Kapasi claimed the gold medals in Floor, Vault, Parallel Bars and All Round to dominate the U-12 category at SFA Championships 2024.

Aditya Kapasi of PG Garodia School (ICSE) Ghatkopar dominated the boy’s U-12 gymnastics competition winning all four gold medals on offer while Ananya Shelke of General Education Academy, Chembur claimed two gold medals in the girls u-8 category at the SFA Championships 2024 here in Mumbai on Sunday.

Kapasi claimed the gold medals in Floor, Vault, Parallel Bars and All Round to dominate the U-12 category with Shardul Damle of Sharda Mandir High School, Gamdevi taking home all the four silver medals and Prithvir Mandowara of St Mary’s School (ICSE), Mazgoan bagging three bronze medals.

In the girl’s U-8 category, Ananya bagged the gold medal in all-round and vault while Maahi Shetty of St Gregorios High School, Chembur winning the floor gold and Hiya Gala of JBCN International School, Parel claiming the top spot in Uneven Bars.

Sports For All (SFA) is committed to professionalising, organising, and monetising grassroots sports, aiming to foster a culture that values and invests in sports nationwide. The championships this year will run until December 12th, roping in participants from across Jaipur in a hunt for the best talents.

This year, more than 21,000 athletes from 790 schools, ranging from ages 3 to 18, are competing across multiple venues in the city, highlighting the event’s remarkable growth and its commitment to nurturing young sporting talent.

The SFA Championships 2024 have brought a thrilling lineup of 27 sports to Mumbai for the seventh edition. Day 7, of the Championships in the city, also witnessed the continuation of the build-up toward medal events in archery, gymnastics and judo, while other events including badminton and handball also started.

In the judo competition being held at the University Complex in Kalina, Riyansh Chaurasia of Manav Mandir High School, Malabar Hill defeated Shlok Rathod of SK Somaiya Vinay Mandir to clinch the boys U-8 judo gold 1-18kg weight category while Shaurya Sheth of Utpal Shanghvi Global School, Juhu clinched the U-8 20-22kg gold with a win over Raajveer Parab of 21K School.

In the archery competition, Vansh Panchal of RN Podar School won the boys U-17 compound gold with Sarvesh Thale of CKT Junior College, Powai and Ryaal Ansari of Rizwi College, Bandra bagging the silver and bronze respectively.

Prajna Kesarkar of GEI Chhabildas English Medium School, Dadar and Devaansh Patil of Hiranandani Foundation School, Thane, clinched the girls and boys u-14 air pistol gold medals respectively.
