Nirmal Chettri was one of the finds of the “Search for More Bhaichungs” campaign carried out by the Sikkim Government. Chettri joined the Sports Academy of Sikkim in 2005 before representing Sikkim in the Santosh Trophy in the 2016-17 season. Having started off playing with Air India FC, he thereafter plied his trade for a number of Hero I-League clubs. He featured in the inaugural Hero ISL for Kerala Blasters and played 12 matches. He was injured in 2015, but made a comeback with NorthEast United FC in 2016. He was picked up by the Highlanders again in Hero ISL 2017-18 and made 16 appearances. This will be his second stint in the state of Goa, after having played for Dempo FC in 2014-15.
