Shouvik Ghosh is a star alumnus of Pailan Arrows. The left-footed player, who admires Ashley Cole, Deepak Mandal and Serbian defender Neven Subotic, started his career as left-back but was played by his coaches at the AIFF developmental team as central defender in the three years he served there. From all reports, he made a success of it and even captained the outfit. The ball player’s ability to bring the ball out of defence and to build the game from the back has impressed the pundits and the media. Mohun Bagan were quick to secure his signature last season and the youngster has shown that he has the game and maturity to make long-term claims on the left-back position. Ghosh has been part of India’s under-19 and under-22 campaigns and has even enjoyed a call-up to the senior team subsequently but is yet to earn his first cap. He was part of Delhi Dynamos FC in the inaugural edition of the league and will be hoping for more first-team action with the Highlanders in Hero ISL 2016.
Was in the junior India team for AFC under-19 qualifiers and under-22 AFC qualifiers in 2009 and 2012.
Named among the probable for the qualifiers for the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup.
