Thibaut Nicolas Marc Courtois ) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays for English club Chelsea and the Belgium national team as a goalkeeper. Courtois is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation.
Courtois came up through the Genk youth system, and progressed to the senior team helping them win the 2010–11 Belgian Pro League. In July 2011 Courtois joined Chelsea for a reported €9 million, but was immediately loaned to Atlético Madrid. In three seasons with Atlético he won several trophies including La Liga and reaching the Champions League Final in 2014. He also won the 2012–13 and 2013–14 Ricardo Zamora Trophies as best goalkeeper. In June 2014 Courtois was recalled to Chelsea, and in his first season he helped them win the League Cup and Premier League.
Courtois made his senior international debut in 2011 and has since earned over 30 caps. He represented Belgium at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
