Born in Manipur, Singh started his career at the prestigious Tata Football Academy.While with Tata, Singh shined at the academy during the Darjeeling Gold Cup, Saras Gold Cup, and the I-League U19 in 2014. He also represented the state of Jharkhand during the 2011 National Games of India..
The Manipuri lad joined the reputed Tata Football Academy in his early teens in 2010. Making his international debut for India U-19 in the 2014 AFC qualifiers, Udanta Singh was roped in by Bengaluru FC in 2014. He was loaned to Mumbai City FC for Hero ISL 2016 but only played one game due to his AFC Cup commitments. He has since established himself as an integral part of the national side after making his debut against Iran. With Bengaluru, he had seven assists to his name in 2017-18, the most by an Indian in a single season of the Hero ISL, and also went on to collect the ‘Winning Pass of the League Award’.
