Zakeer Mundampara started playing football at the age of 15 in Kerala football's hotbed Malappuram. The experience with SBT, whom he joined in 2007, helped him develop his playmaking skills. Viva Kerala utilized him but it was with Churchill Brothers, Mohun Bagan and Salgaocar that he made a name for himself. He scored his career's first goal with Churchill against Chirag United. Zakeer has also played for the India U-23 team against Qatar, coming on as a substitute. He impressed when called upon by Chennaiyin during the business end of the league in Hero ISL 2015 and appeared five times for them last year. He will have a key role to play for Mumbai City FC this season.
