PWI released their top 500 male wrestlers list last month
Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) have revealed the Top 20 of their 2024 PWI Women’s 250. Last month Pro PWI released its top 500 male wrestlers list that saw the current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes finish in first place.
PWI is an American professional wrestling magazine that was founded in 1979. The magazine was founded by Stanley Weston and it is headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
The magazine holds the record of being the longest-published English-language wrestling magazine that is still in production. PWI is also famously known as ‘Apter Mag’, named after its long-time photographer Bill Apter.
The timeframe used to measure each performer’s success was August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024. Following their release of the top 500 male wrestlers list last month, the magazine has now released the list of top 500 female wrestlers for 2024.
The current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes topped the list of the top 500 male wrestlers of 2024 that was released last month. This was the first time Rhodes topped the list after a career-high of sixth in 2022.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated names Toni Storm at the top spot in this year’s list
The primary criteria followed by PWI include in-ring achievement, influence in the promotion and/or the industry. , and their in-ring technical ability.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm was named the top spot in this year’s list. She was reigning over the AEW women’s division for nine months.
Storm was defeated by Mariah May on August 25, 2024, for the AEW Women’s World Champion. Despite her initial start as a heel in 2023, Storm became one of the most popular figures in the company.
TNA Knockout’s Champion Jordynne Grace finished second on the list. Grace had an amazing year thanks to her appearances in the 2024 Royal Rumble and NXT. Grace has been reigning her division since January 13, 2024. She won the title for the third time at Hard To Kill 2024, after defeating Trinity.
The third position on the list is held by Rhea Ripley, who fell to third place as compared to 2023. Ripley was at the top of this list in 2023. This fall could be credited to her WWE Women’s World Champion reign ending due to injury.
Outside the top three, the list includes Maika from STARDOM wrestling, Stephanie Vaquer who is currently signed to WWE, Sareee who is a freelancer who performs in multiple organizations, and the former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley.
Apart from that, Willow Nightingale kept her 2023 spot of eighth place, while the current AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May made her first appearance in the top ten at ninth place, and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena dropped down three places from 2023 to tenth.
