World Championships Shotgun 2022: Schedule, Telecast & Results
The event will be held between September 19 and October 12 in Osijek, Croatia.
The ISSF World Championships Shotgun schedule is set to begin on September 19, 2022, and run until October 12, 2022. This time, the Championships are taking place in Osijek, Croatia. While there will be no events on Monday and Tuesday, the first day of the esteemed shotgun event will begin on Wednesday. The tournament will include events across senior and junior categories for men and women.
Shooting debuted in the Olympics in 1896 and has appeared in every edition since, except St Louis (1904) and Amsterdam (1928). While shooting competitions consisted of only five events in 1896, the Paris 2024 event will consist of 15 rifle, pistol, and shotgun events for women and men.
170 men and 170 women will compete in shooting at the Paris Olympics. This total is a bit less than what it was at the Tokyo 2021 Games. In the 2021 Olympics, 340 players competed in the shooting. 156 per-gender quotas will be given in the designated ISSF Championships, which are being conducted according to ISSF rules.
Athletes, to be eligible for a quota, need to meet some criteria to gain one or more of the individual quotas for the Paris 2024 Games.
- Athletes must be listed in the Qualification Ranking for the Olympic Games (QROG) with at least one ranking point achieved for each of the individual events.
- They must have participated in at least two ISSF World Championships Shotgun during the qualifying event for each of the individual events.

What to Expect?
A lot will be expected from Mairaj Ahmad Khan who will accompany Gurjoat Khangura and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka on the men’s skeet team. Mairaj Ahmad Khan is a two-time Olympic champion, who will be high on confidence after having a spectacular time in July at the ISSF World Cup Changwon. He became the first Indian shooter to win a World Cup gold medal in the men’s skeet individual event. He would look to secure an early ticket for the 2024 Olympics which will be held in Paris.
