Manu Bhaker becomes first Indian shooter to qualify for three finals in single Olympic edition

Manu Bhaker has already won two bronze medals in the ongoing Paris Olympics.
Manu Bhaker has become an international sensation due to her performance in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. She has become the first Indian to reach three finals in a single edition of the Olympics.
The 22-year-old has already won two medals at Paris Olympics 2024. She had won the bronze in 10m air pistol event and 10m air pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh. Bhaker also became the first woman shooter to win an Olympic medal.
After winning the bronze in 10m air pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh, Bhaker became the first from the nation since Independence to win multiple medals in a single edition of the Olympics.
The acclaimed shooter is also the second Indian overall after Abhinav Bindra to reach three Olympic finals in individual events. Bindra had reached the finals at 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing where he won gold and in 2016 Rio Olympics in men’s 10m air rifle.
Manu Bhaker’s record run could be extended as she has qualified in the 25m pistol event. She could yet become the first Indian to win three medals in a single edition. Her story has not ended yet at Paris as she hopes to become the first individual athlete from India with three Olympic medals.

In the 25m pistol qualification rounds, Bhaker had finished second behind Veronika Major. The youngster will aim to turn things around in the final on August 3 at Chateauroux – Final Range at Paris Olympics 2024. The final will begin at 1 PM IST and 9:30 local time.
Among the eight finalists in the women’s 25m pistol event, Bhaker is the third youngest athlete after Republic of Korea’s Yang Jiin and Republic of China’s Zhao Nan. But Bhaker is the only one among the eight athletes to have medalled at Paris Olympics 2024.

The shooter from Jhajjar, Haryana has been in action at Paris since July 27 and has led the names among medal contenders for a week. It will be her third and final event at Paris Olympics 2024 as Bhaker will hope for yet another podium finish. Few more hours and the double Olympic medallist will once again keep her razor focus with the pistol in her hand.
