Bhaker has become the first Indian to qualify for three finals in a single edition of the Olympics. She will look to be the first Indian to win three medals at a single Olympic Games edition. Bhaker had earlier won the bronze in 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team with Sarabjot Singh.
Meanwhile, Olympic debutant Esha Singh finished 18th with a score of 581 with 17 inner ring shots. The 19-year-old Indian scored 291 in precision stage and 290 in rapid. She had scored 100 in the third series of the precision stage. Singh could not qualify as only the top shooters proceed into the finals.
Manu Bhaker had a slow start and scored 97 in the first series of the precision stage. She gradually improved her scores and scored 99 in the third series of the precision stage. She had scored a perfect in the first nine shots but scored nine in the final shot.
Manu Bhaker continued her impeccable form in the rapid series as she started with a score of 100. In the second series in rapid, Bhaker was firing 10 in all the shots with the exception of an 8 in the third shot. The 22-year-old will seek her third Olympic medal in the finals of women’s 25m pistol.
Bhaker has been given G firing point while Veronika Major will be in A firing point. Haniyeh Rostamiyan who finished third in the qualification round will be firing from B point.
