India are the defending champions in the men’s team event at the Squash Asian Team Championships.

The Asian Squash Team Championships 2024 is an international squash tournament held biannually. The 2024 edition will be the 22nd edition for men and the 19th for women, happening in Dalian, China. The tournament is scheduled from June 12 to 16.

India are the defending champions in the men’s team, while Hong Kong are the defending champions in the women’s team event. Pakistan are the most successful team on the men’s side, having won a record 15 titles, followed by Malaysia’s four titles and India and Hong Kong with once each. On the women’s side, Malaysia are the most successful, having won 10 titles, followed by Hong Kong (5), Singapore (3) and India (1).

The Indian men’s team have won 11 medals (1 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze). India were the runners-up at the inaugural edition (1981) and then in 2012 and 2021. They won the title at the last edition in 2022 and will look to defend it this time. The women’s team have won nine medals (1 gold, 3 silver and a bronze).

The only gold medal came back in 2012 when India defeated Hong Kong in the finals. They were the runners-up in 2002, 2012 and 2016. At the last edition, India finished third and won the bronze medal.

The upcoming edition of the Squash Asian Team Championships 2024 will take place from June 12 to June 16 in Dalian, China.

Groups and Format

Men’s Team

The teams are divided into four groups, with two groups having four teams and the remaining two having three. The top two nations from each group will qualify for the knockout rounds, while the remaining teams will play rank classification matches.

Pool A: Malaysia, Iraq, Iran

Pool B: Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka

Pool C: Pakistan, South Korea, China, Chinese Taipei

Pool D: India, Kuwait, Japan, Mongolia

Women’s Team

The tournament will feature two groups of six teams each. The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the semi-finals. The third and fourth-placed teams will play the 5–8 classification match, while the fifth and sixth teams will play the 9–12 classification match.

Pool B: Hong Kong, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Iran, Singapore
