Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have enjoyed a fruitful rivalry for over a decade until the former's retirement. Both have faced each other 50 times with the head-to-head record favouring the Serbian 27 times to Federer's 23. The last time they both met was during the Australian Open 2020 semi-finals with Novak Djokovic emerging victorious.
From the video below, in one of their meetings at the Shanghai Masters, Roger Federer registered four consecutive aces to win the game in 47 seconds. The 20-time Grand Slam champion is known for delivering aces consistently and his backhand - with both legs on motion was always a treat to watch.
Both the legends have met each other twice at the Shanghai Masters - in 2010 and 2014 and Federer has got the better of the Serbian on both the occasions holding a superior record.
Djokovic, 36, recently won the French Open to claim 23 grand slam titles overall - the most in the men's singles history in the Open Era. He was close to adding one more title to the cabinet at the Wimbledon Championships 2020, but young sensation from Spain Carlos Alcaraz, 20, came back from behind to register one of his greatest wins and in the process won his second grand slam title after the US Open win last year.
Federer, on the other hand, retired from professional tennis last year after playing the Laver Cup. He was part of the European team which had the likes of Rafael Nadal. Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andy Murray, and Cameron Norrie.
The 20-time grand slam champion's final match resulted in a (6–4, 6-7, 9–11) loss in doubles, partnering long-time rival and friend Rafael Nadal against team Worlds Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. The match was also Federer's 1750th on the tour.
