She defeated Elise Mertens and Elina Avanesyan in three sets each. Her match with Mertens had a 16-point tie-breaker in the third set, which she won 5-7, 6-1, 7-6(6) in 2 hours and 53 minutes. Gauff faced a tiebreak in the first set against Caroline Dolehide but won the match 7-6(2), 6-2.
