Andrey Rublev is currently eighth in the race to the ATP Finals rankings.
Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev has become the first ATP tennis star to record 40 wins in every year of the 2020 decade. The only other player who can equal Rublev in this particular stat is Novak Djokovic, who has 37 wins this year.
Rublev defeated France’s Alexandre Muller in the second round of the Stockholm Open in straight sets to reach the milestone. However, the celebrations were short-lived as the Russian tennis star was later eliminated in the quarterfinals by three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka.
Interestingly, it was Wawrinka’s first top-10 victory since 2023. The Swiss tennis star became the second oldest tennis player to record a top-10 victory, aged 39. The first name on the list is Feliciano Lopez of Spain, who also defeated Andrey Rublev at the 2021 Davis Cup.
In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic shocked the world, Rublev and Djokovic were the only two players who won 40 or more matches that year. The 26-year-old’s consistency on the tour has been commendable. However, his winning percentage has been a topic of concern.
Andrey Rublev’s record on the tour from 2020 to now
- 2020: 41-10
- 2021: 53-23
- 2022: 51-20
- 2023: 56-26
- 2024: 40-21
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic has won 37 matches this year. His latest loss (ATP tour) loss came against Jannik Sinner in the final of the 2024 Shanghai Masters. He later lost to the Italian tennis star again in the semi-final of the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Novak Djokovic’s record on the tour from 2020 to now:
- 2020: 41-5
- 2021: 55-7
- 2022: 42-7
- 2023: 56-7
- 2024: 37-9
The likes of Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev have already qualified for the ATP Finals. Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz are also in strong spots for the finals. Djokovic, who reached the final in Shanghai, is also a good candidate for the finals with 3910 points. However, Rublev is in the eighth spot, and he has to maintain the position if he aims to play in Turin.
