A rare three-peat looked imminent at the Melbourne Park, and after dominant victories one after the other, the two-time defending champion was stunned by Madison Keys in the finale.
After the heart-breaking defeat, the 26-year-old made her return at the 2025 Qatar Open, only to be knocked out in her very first round at the hands of Ekaterina Alexandrova. She then fell to eventual finalist, Clara Tauson in the second round of the 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships.
